Syracuse earned its first penalty corner three minutes later, when Lucas saved Roos Weers’ drag flick off an SU corner. And fans were hoping to see some improvements in the Madden 21 trailer. (YouTube) We got four main title cards, which means EA Sports placed extra emphasis on these being big features. But one of them was simply “user-controlled celebrations.” I enjoy playing Madden, but figuring out which celebration I want to do is a very minor feature that gets stale after you’ve scored enough touchdowns. Plus, that feature is seemingly already in the game as you can select from four different celebrations when you reach the end zone in “Madden 20.”Since EA Sports didn’t expand on what that means in the trailer, fans were left wondering if the developers even made any changes at all.MORE: Madden 21 release date and new featuresPopular Madden YouTuber RBT expressed his disappointment with the trailer in the comments section of the video. EA Sports released its “Madden NFL 21” reveal trailer this morning and it’s … not what people expected. This trailer had been hyped for a few weeks, and was even delayed by EA Sports at one point. So fans were expecting something of substance by the time the trailer finally got here. Instead, we got very vague descriptions of what might be new features. All fans got to see were title cards followed by gameplay, without more context as to what some of these things even mean. Most of them provided the same criticism you get every year which is something along the lines of, “Madden is just a $60 roster update.” But with the limited features revealed in the trailer, this year’s criticism feels a little more valid.I’m going to assume I’m not the only one who is completely underwhelmed by this trailer https://t.co/T9r3sRz9S8— Kyle (@Ky3217) June 16, 2020“Let’s just take madden 20 gameplay and slap #madden21 on it……oh let’s update the rosters too” https://t.co/Cuiogy0Mjy— JORDO🦖 (@ya_jordo) June 16, 2020WHEN MADDEN RELEASES ITS 2021 TRAILER. #MADDEN21 pic.twitter.com/3gioFXXNkx— Perdue (@_lionheart41090) June 16, 20200:08 Seconds in, Why #34 Terrell Edmunds run right by Lamar and then JUMP in the air like he’s batting a pass down!?!?!?! 😢😂😂😂 #Madden21 I cant do another year of Broken Football. https://t.co/kLDnNeyYjN— B♠Walker (@Spade_4U_32) June 16, 2020I’ll retire from Madden 21 the second this strip-sack animation happens to me. pic.twitter.com/rtpceMMFGg— THRONE 👑 (@Throne_YT) June 16, 2020Madden 20 vs Madden 21: pic.twitter.com/7DIJiATwIg— Jalen Hurts 🐐💯 (@xxTrippy__) June 16, 2020As for what fans actually wanted to see from the trailer, well it’s the same thing fans have been wanting for years: improved franchise mode.In recent years, EA Sports has gone away from making features for franchise mode and dedicating their time to MUT since it makes them more money. Franchise mode used to be the reason fans loved to play Madden, but now it’s become about as bare bones as it gets. Can we actually have a real story mode this year? And A real Franchise GM mode? It’s madden 21 lol think it’s time . https://t.co/t95xmLB5NU— Tony Jefferson II (@_tonyjefferson) June 12, 2020There’s obviously still time for EA Sports to add features to franchise mode. But the trailer certainly didn’t persuade anyone that franchise mode was getting an overhaul.
